Remember to always get a good nights rest before an exam. Take the time to study a couple days before exams so that you do not have to rush your studying the night before. Exams are intended to help you learn and remember the material, rather than just for memorization.
Do not procrastinate on your daily assignments either! Professors usually give plenty of time to do homework, so get it done! I know sometimes it may be difficult to make the decision of staying in on the weekend doing homework instead of enjoying the Mankato night life, but the key is having you priorities straight. As fun as the weekend could be, how much will that benefit you down the road as opposed to doing your homework and studying?

What can happen if you procrastinate too much? Will it really affect the outcome of the work? If so, how?
I understand the good things to getting work done early. I am a person that procrastinates far too often and much. I think that there are different kinds of procrastinators. Some people just don't worry about work until they need to get it done right before class. Others, like myself, do what would be called "looking up the mountain." This is where I will sit down with the intent to do work and will either do the homework slowly or just get distracted doing little things that waste time. So instead of just having time for fun and time for work it is a mix of doing homework, but taking forever because I waste time doing little fun things. Combined with the little fun things is thinking about and worrying about the work instead of doing it. Would you have any advice for those of us that are "looking up the mountain?" Trust me saying "Just do it" does not work. I find that I just sit and work forever and eventually get stuff done, but man I waste a lot of time getting stuff done sometimes.
A big issue that is commonly associated with homework is procrastination. This issue is more of a psychological situation than anything else. From what I've seen among my friends and even myself, there are different ways to prevent procrastination.
The following suggestions are what work best for me. If I sit down with that ambition to do the assignment but get easily distracted by my buddies or the tv, I simply look at the consequences of not doing the assignment. If its a Sunday afternoon and theres a good football game on, I will watch five minutes of the game, then go lock myself in my room and do my homework for 50-60 minutes. This gives me an adequate amount of time to keep all my focus on one subject for a long enough period of time. After that little study period or time that was taken to go type a paper, I might flip the tv back on for another five minutes or so. My advice to Grant for "looking up the mountain" would be to look at the consequences of not doing an assignment at that certain time. The main thing is having your priorities straight because if you delay to do your assignment, then you are more apt to "wing it" at the last second and have little time to put together a quality assignment. We pay a lot of money for school, so we should put our homework first, then go do all the fun activities that have been on our mind for so long. Another method that I have used is listening to my ipod while I'm reading, typing a paper, or whatever the case may be. This doesn't work for some people because they aren't multi-taskers, but its just a suggestion. Basically, my solution is simple. Look at the consequences if you don't do the assignment today or if you put other things first. If you get your homework done now, you will have more time to hang out with your friends or whatever the case is later on! Good question!
